When did you retire?

I retired July 31, 2006. For 33 years I was a senior manager for a major oil company in Canada. I had a great career, mainly in the wholesale credit area, as well as managing many outsourcing and merging company initiatives.

Now that you're retired, what does a typical day look like?

Mornings spent with coffee and newspaper, play wordle, some solitaire, breakfast of oatmeal and blueberries.

Afternoons are road trips to small towns, antiquing or working on 1/4 scale miniature projects. Weather permitting, enjoy being outside. Love to garden and walk.

Evenings are dinner followed by some quiet time; reading or internet play then a couple of hours of TV, news then bed.

Not including your primary residence, how much would you say you started retirement with?

Together, my husband and I started our retirement with around $750K

What was the biggest shock to you with regards to your finances?

No shocks at all. We did a lot of planning, coordinated our retirement plans and investments, worked with trusted people, and made sure to avoid surprises.

If you had a time machine, what would you do differently?

I would not change a thing. I am one of the very few living the dream in all aspects of my life.
